Kid’s Tournament Honors Local Legend

Introducing a child to fishing can change their life forever.

March 24, 2008—The 2008 Bay Point Invitational will see the launch of an event that is long past due—the Al Hubbard Kids Fishing Experience. For us it only makes sense to name our first kids fishing event after one of our local legends, Al Hubbard.
Al loved fishing, but his real passion was introducing kids to the joys of a life spent outdoors on the water. He knew a child introduced to fishing at a young age was much more able to deal with the issues that life was sure to throw at them as they grew.
Whether it was Al's infectious smile that made it magical, or simply his deep devotion to the sport, no young child could help wanting to give it a try. Al was, and remains, our ambassador for the sport of fishing; saltwater, fresh water, lake, river or bayou, it didn't matter to Al. He loved all of it.
The Al Hubbard Kids Fishing Experience is designed for kids aged 8-13 who might not otherwise have the opportunity to go fishing. This first event is limited to 27 children, half girls, half boys, who will be chosen by our three designated charities—the Boys and Girls Club of Bay County, the Anchorage Children's Home and Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center.
